Dear Arthur Dimmesdale,
I have been very impressed with the choices that you have made. I have been forced to bear the burden of the scarlet letter, but thou hast taken upon thyself, with courage, the weight of this sin, not by force, but by choice. I do not know what I would have done if I were in your shoes. It is interesting how our different experiences have led us to grow in different ways. The different perspectives we have gained from our different circumstances in the same sin we share have changed us two people in so different a way as though we did not commit the same fault. I know that it has been a hard time, but I'm glad that even though we had to take the consequences of this sin in different ways, we have been able to overcome and find strength to do so in each other. You have truly overcome this sin by being open to the public about it and you will be able to heal quicker now that you have taken action. (Would have been delivered if there was time before his death). -Hester Prynne
