There is something unique, momentous, and inexplicably powerful about new life. Each new breath glimmers with a hope for the future, producing an exhilarating joy; a knowledge that a new journey has begun.
When I met my cousin's baby for the first time, I was reminded of what it feels like to recognize a new life. There are certain moments that win a kind of respect, because in those moments it feels as though your intellectual self is recognizing a greater significance than your physical self can grasp. Still you are left with the humbling awe that gives those moments a meaning and an importance that can only be felt. A sort of resonating sensation in your soul. Meeting Cormack for the first time is an experience I will never forget. Thinking back on it, it feels as though I was reuniting with a familiar friend, an old companion. When I first met Cormack. A certain breathless air held a connection sustained by the beat of our synonymous hearts. His hands. Small but carefully carved with the most brilliant details and designs. His eyes. Still gathering strength to discover the pure light radiating from the sun. His skin. Rosy and soft, subject to a world full of new experiences. His rasping breaths. Filled with promise and accompanied by a small whisper that told us the earth had just become brighter.
